Sermon preached at RUF's Wednesday Night Fellowship on January 17, 2018. "What are the basics/essentials of the Christian faith?" This semester we're asking & answering that question by taking an in-depth look at the Apostles' Creed: a map and compass of sorts that billions of Christians have used for thousands of years to help them navigate the Scriptures and guide them on their spiritual journey. The creed begins the same way the Christian life does: with faith. "I believe." As we look at Ephesians 2:1-10, we learn 3 things about faith: 1) we are saved by faith and not by our good deeds/works; 2) we are saved by the strength of faith's object and not by the strength of our faith; and 3) we are saved in order to do good works (i.e., good work is not the cause of our salvation but a consequence of it).
