John Meinen, CAMPUS MINISTER

Hi there! My name is John, and I am the campus minister for RUF at UVM. In 2004, I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Upon graduation I backpacked across southeast Asia, spent a year of service with AmeriCorps VISTA in the SF Bay Area, studied microfinance in Bangladesh, and assisted a non-profit operating in Uganda and Kenya. Back in the States, I led backpacking trips for Outward Bound, participated in a year-long fellowship program in the DC area, and earned a Masters of Divinity (M.Div.) degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (2012). I was ordained later that same year and have been a RUF campus minister ever since.

In 2010, I married a wonderful woman named Megan. Since graduating from Davidson College in 2007, Megan has done some really cool stuff: she spent 35 days in Patagonia mountaineering with NOLS, pursued a Masters in outdoor education at the University of Edinburgh, directed a place-based summer camp at the Crane Estate in Ipswich, MA, and more! She currently manages the UVM ropes course.

Megan and I are proud parents to Willa (4 y/o daughter) and Fella (black lab). We love sharing meals with friends, watching anything good on Netflix, and playing outside. We would love to get to know you. If you want to know more about us, RUF, etc., please don't hesitate to contact us via email (john.meinen@ruf.org) or cell (John: 802.922.4202; Megan: 843.384.5284). Friend me on Facebook.

Hi! My name is Sarah Jayne, and I am from Rochester, New York. I graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. Some of my favorite things to do include spending time outdoors, photography, and having a good cup of coffee on a porch with a friend. I became involved with RUF at App State my freshman year. As college became increasingly hectic with studies, jobs, etc., RUF became a place where I could truly rest in a loving community, become vulnerable, and learn more about who Jesus is. My favorite part of the week was hosting college girls in my home for small group on Tuesday nights. I cannot wait to spend the next two years serving and loving the students at UVM! Feel free to reach me at sarahjayne.kennelly@ruf.org and/or 585.727.3719. Friend me on Facebook.
