James Rantzow, Jr. | CAMPUS Director

Hey Hey! My name James Rantzow. I am originally from Memphis, TN and graduated from University of Alabama in 2017 with a B.S. in Nonprofit Management. Through RUF at Alabama, I met my wife, Virginia, and we quickly discovered a shared love for both camp and campus ministry. After serving for several years of camp ministry, I joined the staff of RUF at Rhodes College in Memphis. During my time with RUF Rhodes, I started pursuing my M.Div. through Covenant Theological Seminary’s Hybrid M.Div. program. Lord willing, I will graduate Spring 2027!

After several years serving students at Rhodes College, Virginia and I are so excited to join RUF at the University of Vermont (beginning Fall 2026). Whether it’s enjoying New England’s outdoor culture (camping, hiking, skiing, fly-fishing, hunting), walking our dogs, learning to survive the cold, sharing a cup of coffee, or sitting down for a good meal, we love getting to know students and walking alongside them during their college years. Virginia, a Licensed Professional Counselor, is also excited to move her practice to Burlington.

We have two sons, Jamie (born April 2023) and Hank (born February 2025), and we are thrilled to move to such a beautiful and spiritually significant part of the country.

We would love to get to know you. Feel free to reach me at james.rantzow@ruf.org and/or 901.267.3048.
